Update from Principal
Dear Families
It's incredible to think that a whole term has already passed! My journey so far has been truly wonderful, and I am eagerly looking forward to what lies ahead. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the staff for their exceptional dedication and hard work this term. They consistently go above and beyond for our students, and their commitment is truly commendable.
I also want to applaud our students for their exemplary behaviour and positive attitude. It's been inspiring to see each student embodying the Newborough Way every day.
As we approach the final week, I wish everyone a safe and enjoyable school holiday. Please remember that Monday, July 15th, is a School Development Day, and students do not attend on that day. Term Three for students begins on Tuesday, July 16th.
School Development Day
Monday 15 July is a School Development Day. Students do not attend on this day. We look forward to seeing everyone back on Tuesday 16 July.
Staffing Update
I'm thrilled to share some exciting news with all of you! After an extensive search process, I'm delighted to announce that we've successfully finalised our search for a substantive Deputy Principal.
Please join me in extending a warm welcome to Maribel Ward, who will be joining our team at NPS. Maribel brings with them a wealth of experience in student services, ICT management, and leadership in quality teaching and learning. Her expertise and passion will undoubtedly enrich our school community.
Maribel will officially commence her role on Monday, July 15th. I'm confident that Maribel’s contributions will make a significant difference in our school's journey towards excellence.
OSHC Expression of Interest
As notified previously, we are currently evaluating tenders for the Out of School Hours Care facility at Newborough PS. The timeframe previously advertised was deemed to short so Mulberry Tree has been offered a contract renewal until 4 February 2025. All providers who have submitted an EOI have been advised of the change of date.
The School Advisory Group will undertake a value-for-money assessment to consider the extent each expression of interest satisfies the following criteria:
(a) Suitability of the proposed outside school hours care service;
(b) Respondent’s demonstrated capacity to provide outside school hours care services;
(c) Session fees to be incurred by parents/carers, and;
(d) License fee for right to use the premises.
To assist us in our decision, we are seeking feedback from families in helping us make an informed decision when choosing the provider to supply the service as of 5 February 2025. In our Newsletter this week, we have asked that families currently use our OSHC service or intend to do so in the future, take the time to complete a survey to share their experiences and preferences by Friday 21 June 2024.
Canteen Closure
Due to unforeseen circumstances the canteen will not be open on Thursday 27 June (Week 11). The canteen will reopen on the last day of term Friday 28 June. After this, we say goodbye and thank you to Jen for all her hard work. Please be assured we are still looking into our options about providing a lunch service to students and will let families know once this has been sorted. It is unlikely that there will be any ordering of lunches in the first few weeks of Term Three.
Garden Beds
A huge shoutout to Moneer who has stepped into the role of gardener while Greg is away. Moneer has worked tirelessly over the last few days to completely clean out the garden beds. Watch this space. Thank you, Moneer!
Edu-Dance Concert
Watching the Kindy Edu-Dance Concerts was absolutely adorable. The children performed beautifully, demonstrating both impressive recall of their moves and remarkable confidence. I'm eagerly anticipating the performances of the rest of the school scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday.

EDU-DANCE CONCERTS
We had such fun at the Kindy Green and Kindy Red Edu-dance Concerts in Week 9. Congratulations to both classes for challenging themselves with their dance moves.
The Pre-primary – Year 6 Concerts will be held over two afternoons in Week 10 in the Undercover Area starting at 2pm.
We will open the gates at 1.40pm. Please only enter through the gates and not the front office.
We also ask that you do not take your children out of their other classes, if they are not involved in the concert, to watch their siblings perform. The two concerts are the same on both days, just with different classes. Due to limited space in the undercover area, only the classes performing, will be attending that day’s concert.
Teachers have informed you of your child’s required costumes for the concert. Thank you in advance for your support.

WINTER SOLSTICE PYJAMA DAY – WEEK 10 CLASS PASS
A reminder that our Winter Solstice Pyjama Day is on Friday 21st June. This is to celebrate student’s Golden Time by each class earning their 400 Goldies through demonstrating our 4 values of Respect, Kindness, Challenge Your Self and Teamwork. The day chosen for the whole school pyjama day is the Winter Solstice day, when the earth’s poles reach their maximum tilt away from the Sun. It is also called Midwinter; the shortest daylight of the year. A good day to snuggle up in Pyjamas. We invite all parents and staff to also wear their pyjamas to school.

Lost Property
Please remember to label all of your child’s belongings. This includes bags, water bottles, jackets and other items your child brings to school. Labelling your child’s belongings helps ensure they are returned to their rightful owner in case they are misplaced or left behind. Please take a few minutes to write your child’s name on their belongings with permanent markers or use labels. It may seem like a small thing, but it can save you and your child a lot of time, expense and frustration in the long run. Please check the Lost Property Bin before the end of term for any items your child may be missing as anything left in the bin will be donated.
